Farming...Or Not?
I've played Ranger for a while now, and love it. The only problem I've found is cash...sure,I can go out in to the Plains Of Jarin in Hard Mode and kill a few Nephila and the like, maybe make 500 gold in 10 minutes..but that's not real money. I've managed to get myself a couple of sets of prestige armor, but I don't really know how...now my eyes are set on bigger, more expensive things; but I just can't make the cash.
Does anyone know of any Ranger builds, solo or team,that can be used to effectively make profit? If so I'd love to hear them!

Haven't tried farming with my Ranger for a while but there were some very
effective builds using Earth magic and Rit,splinter or touch Rangers.
This is the list on Guru. Hope it helps

Trapping is fun but rather slow. Find two friends and trap UW, using either a full run of traps, or arcane echo->echo->dust trap. Despite its inefficiencies, it can be quite fun, especially when you see the globs of ecto drop.
As above, the earth magic build...sliver armor coupled with whirling defense; the rit skills Vengeful Weapon and Vengeful was Khanei.

Trapping sounds like a good idea, I might give it a shot

No one mentioned it that I saw, so I'll add. Touch ranger is nice for solo - perhaps as good as it gets, with the most versatility. There's also a nice monk build that lets you farm solo reasonably well:
[build=OgMT00Lm5wfPG7LGkYUejEA]
The best solo build for a ranger that I've done so far is the ANY/ele raptor farm build. There are a few trap builds that may be as effective (for farming gemstones/UW). I had fun with the rit build against ele casters way back, but not real flexible (only works in early factions zone HM):
[build=OggjcNYcITHHWMEPRTSTIHbH0kA]
By far the best farming class is the ASSN, or perhaps the 55 monk/necro (or the UW war/ele, or the mesmer glint challenge core farm, or ...). However, I've found the ANY/ele raptor farm is *almost* as effective as the perma sin raptor (except you'll die 1 in every 10-20 runs - ASSN won't die unless you screw up).
I'm assuming that by farming you mean HM - as NM no tomes drop. Also that you're prioritizing large MOB groups, or BOSS (elite tomes).
EDIT: with the new '100 LOLz' skill, I modified the warrior build so that it works on Ranger (ran 5 times, seems stable and fast [16/20 25% run]):
[build=OgEUQ5KeLcSHH0kCHqM9Fpi5F7gA]

For a R/any, I simply do the Zaishen Challenge/Elite everyday. If done right, that equates to 6k a day.

Thought of the same thing since I saw the keg farming, but trying [deadly paradox][quickening zephyr][shadow form] then running in and blasting with kegs.
Seeing how it only takes a few seconds, I don't see how it would not work. Too lazy to try it at the same time too.

DP is wasted there, since QZ already makes Skills recharge "twice as fast" (read: 50% recharge) which is the cap.
